Devil’s Wish: A Bold Cocktail with a Wicked Twist
Temptation has never tasted so good. The Devil’s Wish is a daringly delicious cocktail that’s equal parts bitter, botanical, and beautifully balanced. Featuring a base of gin, the complexity of Campari, and a crisp splash of clear apple juice, it’s topped with the aromatic lift of Double Dutch Pomegranate & Basil to bring a devilishly good edge. Garnished with fiery red chilli “horns” and a crack of black pepper, this cocktail doesn’t just ask for attention — it demands it.
At first sip, the Devil’s Wish might feel like a Negroni’s rebellious cousin — the gin and Campari bring familiar bitter notes, but the apple juice softens the edges with a hint of orchard sweetness. Then comes the real magic: the Double Dutch Pomegranate & Basil mixer adds an aromatic sparkle, elevating the drink with herbal and fruity depth that lingers long after the first sip. It’s refined, fiery, and completely unforgettable.
Why We Love It
The Devil’s Wish is a cocktail for those who like their drinks with personality. It’s bold without being overpowering, complex without being complicated, and full of little surprises — from the first sip to the final garnish. It’s got the elegance of a classic bitter cocktail, but with a playful twist that sets it apart from the crowd. If you love a Negroni, Americano or Aperol Spritz, this devilish number will feel right at home in your repertoire.
When to Serve It
This is a cocktail that shines in moody, candle-lit settings — think dinner parties, date nights, or any evening that calls for a bit of mystery. It’s also perfect for Halloween, thanks to its dramatic colour and chilli-horn garnish, but we’d happily sip it all year round. It works equally well as a slow sipper or an impressive aperitif.
Garnish with a Bite
The Devil’s Wish isn’t complete without its signature garnish: two bright red chilli “horns” tucked onto the rim of the glass, with a few cracks of black pepper over the top. It’s a simple but striking detail that gives the drink character and adds just the right touch of heat — visually and on the palate.
Top Tips
- Use clear apple juice: It keeps the colour vibrant and the flavour crisp.
- Stir gently: Overmixing can dilute the punchy bitterness — a quick stir is all you need.
- Go bold with garnish: The chilli horns are more than just fun — they hint at the heat within.
The Devil’s Wish is a cocktail that knows exactly what it is — sharp, stylish and just a little bit sinful. It’s the perfect serve for anyone who likes their drinks with drama, depth, and just enough bite to keep things interesting.
