Spicing Things Up
If you're looking to turn the heat up — in flavour, not effort — the Spicing Things Up cocktail is your answer. This bold and aromatic serve brings together a spiced gin base, fiery ginger ale, and a trio of fresh, fragrant garnishes that hit all the right notes. It’s a drink that looks dramatic, tastes vibrant, and delivers a warming kick with every sip.
Why We Love Spicing Things Up
The beauty of Spicing Things Up lies in its balance. The botanicals from a spiced gin like Opihr provide warmth and complexity, while Double Dutch Ginger Ale adds a crisp effervescence and subtle sweetness. The fresh garnishes — lemongrass, ginger, and a touch of red chilli — add layers of scent and spice that make each glass a multi-sensory experience.
It’s a cocktail that feels adventurous but is surprisingly easy to build. No shaking or muddling — just pour, stir, and garnish. The result? A stunning, high-impact drink that’s packed with character and charm.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve in a tall highball glass packed with ice to keep the flavours bright and refreshing.
- Bash a stick of lemongrass and use it as a stirrer for a fragrant, slightly citrusy hit.
- Slide a thin strip of fresh ginger down the inside of the glass and top with a single slice of red chilli for visual drama and subtle heat.
Top Tips
- If you don’t have spiced gin, try adding a small pinch of ground cardamom or star anise to a classic gin for an aromatic lift.
- Want extra heat? Gently muddle the chilli into the bottom of the glass before adding ice.
- Chill your Double Dutch Ginger Ale before serving to keep it bubbly and crisp from first sip to last.
Spicing Things Up is perfect for cooler evenings, cocktail hours with attitude, or any time you want something that makes a statement. It’s bold, warming, and full of flavour — a drink that lives up to its name in all the best ways.
