Ingredients in Our Perfect Paloma Recipe
To make our perfect Paloma recipe you will need a few ingredients:
Tequila
Nothing gets the party started faster than tequila. Here at Double Dutch we're big fans of tequila, in fact we've written an article explaining our top facts on the drink.
Why We Use Tequila?
A Paloma is a traditional Mexican drink so needs an equally traditional Mexican spirit. The combination of tequila and grapefruit soda creates a refreshing and flavourful drink. Mexico produces and consumes both tequila and grapefruit widely making them natural companions in local cocktails.
Lime Juice
We love lime juice in our cocktails, it makes a tart and zesty contrast. This all comes to together to make a deep and complex cocktail that tastes great.
Why Lime Juice in a Paloma Recipe?
We always use lime in a Paloma for several reasons, mainly because it enhances the overall flavour. The acidity of lime juice helps balance the sweetness of the grapefruit soda and adds a bright, citrusy element to the drink. The combination of tequila, grapefruit soda, and lime juice creates a well-rounded and refreshing cocktail.
Pink Himalayan Salt
You may have seen pink Himalayan salt in a few of our cocktail recipes. We love it because it rims the cocktail glass and adds an aesthetic that looks professional.
Why Himalayan Salt?
Rimming the glass with salt adds an extra layer of flavour and enhances the overall drinking experience. It also looks a lot more professional! We chose Pink Himalayan salt because of distinct appearance and perceived health benefits (although these might not be true).
Double Dutch Pink Grapefruit Soda
Flamboyantly fresh, our new Pink Grapefruit mixer starts with an intensely rich grapefruit flavour. It slides into the luscious taste of Persian lime - renowned for it's piquancy. Offering a blend of sweetness and depth that is delicious alone. As well as dramatically good partnered with Tequila, Mezcal and all white spirits.
Grapefruit Soda in a Paloma
Just like tequila, grapefruit soda is a traditional Mexican drink. They pair together brilliantly and create an incredible combination.
Tools For A Perfect Paloma
You'll need the following tools to make our perfect Paloma.
Long spoon
A long-handled spoon, or bar spoon, is an important tool and every mixologist should have one. It has a long, slim handle, allowing bartenders to stir drinks in tall glasses or shakers while keeping their hands clear. The spoon can have a twisted handle for better grip and a small bowl at the end for measuring or muddling ingredients. Using a long-handled spoon can improve the presentation and mixing of cocktails, making the drinking experience more enjoyable.
Highball glass
A Highball glass is a tall, straight-sided glass we often use when mixing drinks. It normally holds about 8 to 12 ounces.
Spirits jigger
A spirits jigger is a tool that bartenders use to measure liquids accurately. It usually has two sides: one side measures a standard shot, typically 1.5 ounces. The other side measures smaller amounts, often 1 ounce or 0.5 ounces. Using a jigger makes your measurements faster and increases accuracy.
