We're now a certified B Corporation!
We are now officially a certified B Corporation!
We're thrilled to announce that we've earned this prestigious certification upon our very first application, making us the only major mixer brand among the impressive 120 B Corp certified beverage businesses in the UK.
Rooted in Values, Elevated by Sustainability
From the beginning, our journey has been guided by core values that resonate with sustainability and social responsibility. This week, we proudly join the ranks of businesses recognised by B Corp, achieving an exceptional overall score of 86.9 – surpassing the current median score of 50.9 points for those undergoing this rigorous assessment.
A Carbon-Neutral Sip and Beyond
Since 2022, we've been on a mission to offset over 140,000 kilograms of CO2 in the UK through tree planting initiatives in Somerset, earning us the coveted status of a carbon-neutral brand. But, our commitment to the environment goes beyond numbers; we actively monitor our environmental impact and continually strive to reduce our business footprint.
Serving Sustainability to the Hospitality Sector
We believe in shared responsibility, especially when it comes to sustainability goals. With our new B Corp certification, we aim to make it easier for businesses in the hospitality sector to make conscious choices. Our commitment is to provide ethically-conscious, high-quality products and services in an environmentally responsible manner.
Doing Business the Right Way
At Double Dutch, we're not just about mixers; we're dedicated to contributing to positive social change. Initiatives like our Female Bartending Scholarship Program and our charitable work with the Princes' Trust showcase our commitment to inclusivity and giving back to the community we're proud to be a part of.
Reducing, Reusing, Recycling: A Triple R Recipe
We've cut down plastic use by 30% since 2021 and are actively collaborating with companies like TooGood2Go and Fareshare to reduce food waste. Our glass bottles now boast 20% recycled glass, an increase from 16% in 2021, with plans to hit 25% by 2026. Plus, we've launched our drinks range in aluminium cans – 100% and infinitely recyclable, with a lower carbon footprint compared to glass bottles.
Founders' Vision and Reflections
Raissa and Joyce de Haas, the brilliant minds behind Double Dutch, share their thoughts on this remarkable achievement. "Sustainability has always been at the heart of our business philosophy. We are immensely proud to lead the way, and this recognition reflects our commitment to sustainability and highlights our role as a catalyst for positive change within our industry."
They also express joy in joining the community of over 120 B Corp certified brands in the UK, emphasizing the positive impact on the hospitality sector. "This is brilliant for hospitality brands & venues, signposting them to suppliers doing business well. Together with other beverage brands, we hope to help the industry make easy and sustainable choices with a great range of high-quality products without compromise."
B Lab Certification: A Mark of Excellence
The B Corp certification, awarded by B Lab, is more than a badge for us; it's a commitment to meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. To secure the designation, we had to meet or exceed certain levels of social impact across environmental practices, corporate governance, and relationships with employees, customers, and the drinks community.
A Toast to the Future
In celebrating this incredible achievement, we're not resting on our laurels. Double Dutch remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of sustainability and social responsibility, setting an example for the industry and inspiring positive change. By choosing Double Dutch products, you're not just sipping on fantastic mixers; you're supporting a company that prioritizes the planet and people alongside profit.
Here's to shaking things up, Double Dutch style! Cheers to sustainability, social responsibility, and the flavorful journey with Double Dutch!
